Racers defeated at the doorstep of the tournament at APSU 3-2

The Lady Govs (10-20, 6-10 OVC) got out to a good start, winning the first two games, 30-25 and 33-31. The Racers (7-16, 5-11 OVC) battled back, winning the next two games 30-23 and 30-23. One game to decide which team would advance to the tournament.
Austin Peay hit .300 in the fifth and final game, outlasting Murray State 15-5 in that game to win the match and the No. 6 seed into the OVC finale.
Freshmen Alison Mugler and Alyssa Groves led Murray State with 19 kills apiece. Groves hit .259 for the Racers, while Mugler hit .216. Junior middle blocker Holly Jansen added 14 kills, while junior middle blocker Katie Kemezys added 11 kills.
Freshman libero Heather Norris had her third 30-dig match of the season, repelling 34 digs in the match. Groves added 24 digs, while junior outside hitter Julie Lashley had 22, Mugler had 19 and freshman setter Ashley Meagher had 12.
Jansen and Meagher each had four blocks to lead MSU, while Meagher handed out 64 assists. Lashley served up a match-high two aces.
For Austin Peay, Ashley Genslak had 21 kills, while Laura Wussow had 20. Amber Stein added 16 kills, while Jaimie Thill had 13. Genslak hit .432 for APSU.
Kristen Kirch had 35 digs in the match, while Leanne Kreps had 26, Kelsey McNalley had 21, Kamaria Alexander had 19 and Caroline Frens had 15.
Wussow made eight blocks in the match, while Thill had six and Genslak had five.
The match concluded the season for Murray State.
