Women's Tennis Falls to Southern Miss

The Murray State women's tennis team dropped its first match of the season as the Racers fell 4-3 to Southern Miss Saturday afternoon at the Baton Rouge YMCA.
The Golden Eagles took the doubles point with an 8-4 victory at No. 2 doubles and an 8-6 victory at No. 3 doulbes.
MSU was able to battle back in singles action and took a 2-1 advantage after Lynsey Bochenek came away with a 6-0, 6-0 victory at No. 6 singles and Lynsday Ottosen followed suit with a 6-1, 6-1 victory at No. 5 singles.
USM would gain control of the match at that point with three-straight victories, including clinching the match with Stephanie Dellocono's 6-4, 6-3 victory over Alexis Webb at No. 4 singles.
The Racers third singles victory came at No. 2 singles when Anne Pennington battled her way to a 6-7 (3), 6-3, 6-3 victory over Brittany Serret.
MSU returns to the court on Feb. 23 when it takes on Evansville at 1 p.m. at the Kenlake Tennis Center.
