
MSU Opens Rifle Season At Spurgin Range With Victory

The Murray State Rifle squad opened the 2008-09 season Saturday morning at home in the Pat Spurgin Range in Stewart Stadium against UT Martin.
MSU won the match 4575 to 4529, a 46-point win.
The Racers won the air rifle portion of the shoulder-to-shoulder match 2317 to 2286 (a 31-point win), and claimed the smallbore competition by a 2258 to 2243 (a 15-point win).
MSU's Kasey Meyer won the smallbore portion with a score of 575, which was three points better than UTM's Heather Tillson. Meyer finished second in the air rifle with a 585, which was one shot behind Tillson's 586. MSU teammates Kent Wilcox (third in air rifle) and Erica Meece (fourth in air rifle and fourth in smallbore) also had solid performances. Ashley Rose finished fifth in air rifle and Harley Jette earned a sixth place spot.
