Racer Rifle Downs Morehead in Dual Match

Competing in their first of two dual matches before the OVC tournament, Murray State rifle defeated OVC rival Morehead State 4633-4557 in Lexington, Ky.
Tessa Howald took home top honors in the air rifle with a personal-best score of 594. It is also the highest a Racer has shot this season. Howald also shot a 575 smallbore to place third overall and second on the team.
Kelsey Emme and Katarina Bisercic also placed in the top-five in both disciplines. Bisercic finished second overall in the air rifle with a 588 and fourth in the smallbore with a 570. Emme fired a 581 smallbore and 578 air rifle to finish second and fifth respectively.
Rounding out the smallbore scoring were Michael Burzynski and Ryan Limpus. Burzynski shot a 570 while Limpus fired a 569. Burzynski was also fourth on the team in the air rifle with a 578 and Bill Harvey was the final scorer in the air rifle with a 578 as well.
The Racers have one final tune-up before the OVC Championships. MSU will head back to Lexington for their second consecutive dual match, this time against Nebraska. Said Coach Lollar, "We had a pretty good match [against Morehead St.] and we're looking forward to Nebraska this weekend. They are really shooting well and it will be a good challenge for us."
