The Murray State rifle team shot a 2360 in air rifle to finish the 2018 NCAA Championships in fourth place with a 4684 Saturday at the McAllister Field House on the campus of The Citadel in Charleston, South Carolina. Kentucky put an end to West Virginia's streak of five-straight national championships by firing a 4717Â for its first title since 2011.
"I thought we battled all the way through and I'm very proud of the effort," said head coach Alan Lollar. "The seniors have had a great career and it's now up to the returning team to take it to the next level. We want to thank all the people that support us in so many ways, we couldn't do it without them."
Ben Estes and Ivan Roe led Murray State with a 591, while MacKenzie Martin and Barbara Schläpfer fired a 589. Robert Broadstreet rounded out Murray State's day with a 588. Martin led Murray State in the event as whole with an 1174 aggregate.
