
Racers Set Multiple Personal Records at Live in Lou Cross Country Classic

After a couple of weeks off from competition, the Murray State men's and women's cross country returned to action Saturday morning at the Live in Lou Cross Country Classic in Louisville.
The men put on a great showing in the Blue 8K, finishing 11th out of 57 teams and were led by Caleb Kawasaki, who finished 34th out 515 runners, with a personal-best time of 25:26.8. Zach Balleau was second for the Racers as he finished 59th overall, also running a personal-best with a time of 25:44.9.
The personal records kept falling as Meyer Makemson finished third for MSU with a time of 26:25.8 while Zan McClelland ran 26:37.0 to finish fourth. Christian Slone rounded out the scoring for the Racers as he also ran a career-best time of 27:04.3, knocking over a minute off his previous best. Robert Gibson was not far behind Slone to finish sixth for MSU, running a personal best of his own with a time of 27:05.9.
On the women's side, the Racers competed in the highly competitive Gold 5K with a number of Division I programs and finished 35th. Multiple personal records fell for the women as well, led by Emma Graf, who was the top finisher for the Racers with a time of 18:16.8, placing 85th out of 342 runners.
Dani Wright and Katelyn Gilbert added to the list of personal-record breaking times as they finished second and third for MSU with times of 19:09.6 and 19:12.5, respectively. Morgan Vosler was fourth for the Racers with a time of 19:23.3 while Hilary McAdam rounded out the scoring with a time of 19:28.9.
Zarra Humphry and Kristin Dent also ran in the race, setting personal bests with times of 19:42.7 and 20:07.4, respectively.
The Racers will be back in action in two weeks when they host the Murray State Open at Miller Memorial Golf Course on October 18. The women's race will start at 5 p.m., followed by the men's race at 5:30 p.m.
