MURRAY, Ky. - Murray State head baseball coach Dan Skirka has announced the hiring of Erik Dahl as an assistant coach ahead of the 2027 season.
Dahl arrives in Murray with 15 years in the dugout, two NAIA national championships and nine NAIA World Series appearances on his resume. He was named the NAIA Baseball Assistant Coach of the Year in 2022 after Southeastern University won the Avista-NAIA World Series, the second title he helped deliver there.
He comes to Murray State from Florida Southern, where he spent the 2026 season with the Mocs. Florida Southern finished 26-22, its latest 25-win season, and knocked off No. 1 Tampa in a conference series. Dahl coached three all-conference selections there, including an ABCA South Region All-Defense pick.
Before Florida Southern, Dahl spent 2025 at Webber International and eight seasons at Southeastern University from 2017 to 2024. The SEU offense ranked among the NAIA leaders in a long list of categories across his tenure, and he coached the hitters on the 2018 and 2022 national championship teams.
Dahl has also built a track record of moving players into professional baseball. He has coached three Gold Glove catchers, and more than 45 of his players have signed affiliated or independent professional contracts.
His first stop as a full-time assistant came at Sterling College in Kansas, where he spent five seasons as head assistant coach. Sterling finished in the national top 10 in eight different offensive categories during that run, including first nationally in batting average, home runs and hits in 2016. The Warriors reached five straight NAIA opening rounds and made two trips to the Avista-NAIA World Series, in 2013 and 2016.
Dahl is joined in Murray by his wife, Ashley, and their daughter, Olivia.
