Murray State women's basketball dropped a 69-64 matchup to Rice on Friday night

Sharnecce Currie-Jelks posted a 20 point and 12 rebound double-double as Murray State women's basketball dropped a 69-64 contest to Rice as part of the Opening Statement in Richmond, Virginia. The double-double is the 27th of Currie-Jelks Murray State career as she shot 60 percent from the field and a perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line.

Haven Ford joined in with a strong performance, giving the Racers 17 points, eight rebounds, and two assists.

The Racers were able to trim a 15 point four quarter Rice lead all the way down five but MSU was unable to build momentum from behind the three point line, going 5-for-34 from behind the line.

Murray State showed well at the free-throw line with a 19-for-23 night as Currie-Jelks and Ford combined to go 13-of-14 at the line.
