Murray State Tops Memphis 4737-4717
The Murray State Racers defeated the Memphis Tigers 4737-4717 in a midweek home match that saw the Racers tally the second-highest aggregate in program history. Â
The Racers' aggregate of 4737 comes up just three points shy of the program record of 4740, with the Navy & Gold posting a 2359 in smallbore and a 2378 in air rifle. Several Racers had career days as Caroline Martin, Emma Lawrence, Mallory Johnson, and Carlotta Salafia all broke or tied personal records.Â
Martin set new personal records in aggregate and smallbore, and tied her record in air rifle, scoring 590 in smallbore and 597 in air rifle for an aggregate of 1187, good for second overall, with finishes of fourth in smallbore and second in air rifle. Lawrence set a new personal record with a 596 in air rifle, Johnson set a personal record with her 587 in smallbore, and Salafia placed first individually, tying her personal record with an 1189 aggregate and again tying her personal record with a 599 in air rifle, to claim first place, and a 590 in smallbore to claim third. Â
Overall, five Racers appeared in the top ten individually, with Salafia and Martin taking the top two spots. Freshman Lea Soulé took fourth individually with an aggregate of 1182 after firing a second-place 592 in smallbore and a 590 in air rifle. Lawrence claimed seventh individually with an aggregate of 1179 and added a score of 583 smallbore to go with her 596 in air rifle. Mallory Johnson rounded out the top ten for Murray State, claiming ninth overall with a 587 in both smallbore and air rifle for an aggregate of 1174.Â

The Racers now set their sights on the OVC Championship, taking place from February 7-8 in Martin, Tennessee, where they seek their sixth consecutive conference title and their 20th overall. Â
