- Jacob Miller is in his fourth season as Murray State head coach in the 2025-26 school year.
2025-26 season
- Team won The Buddy (home event), total score of -18, 5 shot victory.
- 5 top 4 finishes &Â 3 top 3 finishes
- Second-lowest team average in program history.
- Earned National All Academic Team awarded for team's GPA
- Three Academic All Americans (Lennon Albans, Kamaren Cunningham and Rocco Zakutney).
- Had two MVC Player of the Week honorees.
- Three Racers current student-athletes qualified for national summer events in an 11 month span, including freshman Brock Montgomery in the USGA Junior Amateur.
- Team was MVC Championship Runner up (best finish in 10 years).
- MSU improved National Ranking, MVC Ranking, average finish and scoring average.
- Guided Trey Wall to MVC Individual Championship (first time since 2013), MVC Freshman of the year (first time since 2008), NCAA Individual Qualifier (first time since 2013) and All-MVC Team.
- Team was Top-5 among all MSU teams in community service.
- Saw the Racers improved the team's previous national and MVC ranking.
- MSU improved team's previous average finish and single round scoring average by five strokes per round.
- The Racers' 292.2Â scoring average was the lowest for the Racers in five seasons since the 2019-20 team posted an average of 292.8
- The Racers placed fourth at the MVC Championship in Sunrise beach, Mo. as the program's best conference finish since the 2018-19Â team placed third at the OVC Championship.Â
- The Racers had three top-4 team finishes for the season, at the Bubba Barnett, The Buddy & MVC Championship.
- At the Bubba Barnett Intercollegiate in Jonesboro, Arkansas, the Racers posed a school-record 269 (19-under par) in the second round at RidgePointe Country Club.Â
- With their first-round score (286), the Racers had a program record 555 (21-under par) at the event in Jonesboro.
- Improved team's community service hours by 23 additional hours compared to previous season.
- The Racers had three student-athletes on the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) All-American Scholars Team, John Buchanan, Kamaren Cunningham and Carson Holmes.
- As a team, the Racers had a school-record 3.51 GPA, to lower the team record standard and gain recognition by the GCAA.
2022-2023 season
-  Improved team’s national ranking and scoring average from 2021-22.
- Coached Trey Lewis to Murray State's best individual finish at a conference championship in 10 years of third place.
- Coached Jay Nimmo to win program’s first Power 5 event in 4 decades with a win at the Hoosier Collegiate.
- Trey Lewis earned a spot on the MVC All-Tournament Team.
- The Racers won their second-straight Battle of the Border Match Play over Austin Peay.
- MSU bested its projected MVC Championship finish by five spots and produced four Top-5 finishes in the 2022-23 season.
- The Racers had three Top-5 finishes in their last four events (Second place at the Ernie Denham Classic in Louisville).
- MSU has its highest GPA in Murray State men’s golf history recording a 3.51.
- Numerous players earning 4.0 and being on the Dean’s list.
- MSU earned the GCAA President’s special recognition for the first time (3.5+). Highest academic distinction in men’s college golf.
- MSU had three GCAA Academic All American Scholars.
- Named the fourth head coach for the Racer men’s golf program on June 9, 2022.
- Is the fourth head coach in program history following Buddy Hewitt (1961-2002), Eddie Hunt (2002-21) and Daniel DeLuca (2021-22).
Before MSU
- In 2022 was named Men’s Golf Coach of the Year in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference after his team won the league championship.
- The Dragons set or tied seven records including a 295.3 per round average.
- Began coaching career in 2015 at Marshall University as assistant men’s coach.
- In 2016, became graduate assistant coach at University of Findlay.
- Promoted to assistant coach of the men’s and women’s programs at Findlay in spring 2017.
- Led Findlay women to their first Great Midwest Conference championship in 2017.Â
- As assistant coach in 2018, Coach Miller helped the Findlay men’s and women’s teams to a combined eight team victories and a pair of conference titles.
- In the 2019-20 season at Tiffin, his team had the second-best GPA in the nation and combined for 19 academic All-America selections in four seasons.
Playing Career
- Played four seasons for the Marshall Thundering Herd where he was a four-year letter winner from 2011-15.
- Won three collegiate team titles at Marshall.
- Has qualified for the Ohio/Kentucky Amateur eight times.
- Competed in the 2014 USGA Public Links Championship.
- 2015Â USGA United States Amateur first alternate.
- Competed in the 2021 USGA United States Amateur.
Personal
- Miller, his wife, Kasey, and their daughter, Charleston, reside in Murray.
- Miller is a native of Pataskala, Ohio.
