Women's Tennis Blanks Austin Peay

MSU opened play by sweeping the three doubles matches. Anne Pennington and Casady Pruitt began the sweep with an 8-1 win over Laura Gonzalez and Virginia Penner at No. 2 doubles.
Anna Lask and Rachael Lask clinched the doubles point with an 8-2 victory against Michelle Liew and Mariana Pagan at No. 1 doubles.
With a 7-2 lead, the MSU duo fell behind 30-0 in the 10th game but knotted it up at 30-30 with the help of an Austin Peay double fault.
The Lady Govs won the next point for a 40-30 lead but Rachael Lask answered with a slam near the middle of the court.
The two teams alternated points five times before Rachael Lask ended the match with a backhand down the middle.

The Racers ended the rally by winning the final three games. With McGahee serving in the ninth game MSU lost just one point. The freshman extended the lead to 7-2 with an ace to close out the game.
Austin Peay had a pair of aces in the 10th game, but it was two double faults that proved costly. The first gave MSU a 15-0 lead. The second double fault gave the match to the Racers.
When singles play began, the Racers took care of business quickly at the bottom of the line-up. Pennington beat Kistler 6-0 and 6-0 at No. 6 singles and then Adriana Alvarez shutout Gonzalez 6-0 and 6-0 at No. 5 singles, leaving MSU just one win away from clinching the match.
Pruitt took care of clinching the match for the Racers when she finished off Rzezniczek, 6-2 and 6-1, at No. 2 singles.
