Women's Tennis Defeats Austin Peay. 6-1

The Murray State women's tennis team swept the doubles flight and never looked back on Tuesday, defeating Ohio Valley Conference opponent Austin Peay, 6-1 in Clarksville, Tenn.
The Racers (12-6, 6-3 OVC) began the match off with three straight victories in doubles competition, led off by Angela McGahee and Anne Pennington holding on at No. 1 to defeat Austin Peay's Mariana Pagan and Michelle Liew, 8-7 (7-4). At No. 2, Lyndsay Ottosen and Alexis Webb willed the Racers to a 8-2 victory over Morgan Klieber and Laura Gonzalez, while Lynsey Bochenek and Katelyn Fulcher completed the doubles sweep with an 8-6 win over Alexandria Pyle and Mary Beth Lefler at No. 3.
In singles action, Pennington defeated Pagan, 6-4, 6-4 at No. 1, while Bochenek was downed by Liew 7-6 (4), 6-2 at No. 2. Webb won a 6-3, 6-1 decision over Klieber at No. 3, and Adriana Alvarez defeated APSU's Gonzalez, 6-0, 6-0, at No. 4. At No. 5, MSU's Ashley Pierson defeated Pyle, 6-0, 6-3, and Fulcher took out Lefler at No. 6, 6-0, 6-0.
The Racers wrap up the regular season against Eastern Illinois on Thursday, April 10, at 2:30 p.m. at Purcell Courts.
