The Murray State men's and women's cross country teams recorded a pair of wins against OVC opponent Austin Peay and Bethel (TN) on Friday at the Austin Peay Invitational in Clarksville, Tennessee.
The MSU women's squad notched a perfect score in taking every spot from first to fifth place.
Emma Gilmore won the 5K race with a time of 18:37 as she edged teammate Meagan Smith, who about one second off at 18:38. Ali Hester finished third at 18:51, followed by Caroline Grogan at 18:57 and Abbie Oliver at 19:08.
Cole Cisneros paced the Racer men with a first-place finish in the four-miler with a time of 21:45. Mark Ventura was second with a time of 21:52, with Lucas Prather placing fifth with a time of 22:20. Evan Staviski had a time of 22:36 to place seventh. Finishing out the scoring for MSU was Neil Yockey, who clocked in at 22:44.Â
Both teams will now have a week off before returning to action (Oct. 3) at the Notre Dame Invitational. The 5K race for the women and the 5-mile race for the men will take place at the Notre Dame Golf Course in South Bend, Indiana, beginning at 2 p.m. EDT.
