Murray State women's basketball team is hungry for a win as they face SIU Edwardsville Saturday at 4 p.m. MSU has three student-athletes that average double-digit points; Keiona Kirby (15.5), Ke'Shunan James (15.3), and Olivia Cunningham (11.8). Morehead State is the only school in the OVC that has more student-athletes averaging double-digit points with four. MSU is 6-6 when playing a conference team for the 11th time, while two of the losses are with schools no longer in the OVC.Â

MSU continues to see its name in NCAA rankings. They are in the top 40 in three categories, starting with ranking second in defensive rebounds per game with 32. The team averages 7.6 three-point field goals per game which lands them 32nd in the NCAA, while their scoring offense of 74.0 ranks 38th. Two players are individually ranked in the top 60 in two respective categories; Keiona Kirby ranks 42nd with 2.78 three-point field goals per game, while Netanya Jackson ranks 55th with 2.00 blocked shots per game.

Free-throws weren't enough to put Murray State over Eastern Kentucky Thursday night as they fell 64-59 at the CFSB Center. MSU made 31 free-throws which is tied for eighth on the All-Time Bests list. MSU had a lot of good numbers to highlight during the game, starting with Jackson's third double-double of the season with 17 points and 10 rebounds. Her nine made free-throws is a career-high, along with her 17 points tying her career-high. Ke'Shunan James had her first career double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds. Kirby's 14 free throws made is a career-high, and will place her third on the All-Time Bests for free-throws made, while her 20 free-throws made puts her in fifth on the All-Time list. Jashae Lee tied her season-high free throws made, while the team collectively made the most free-throws this season. The team was outrebounded by two, but caused 10 turnovers and scored nine points off of those turnovers. They only allowed one three-pointer to be made by the Colonels, and made 14 second chance points.

The series is tied 5-5 between the two teams. The Cougars are on a three-game winning streak against the Racers.

The Cougars have only lost one conference game this season, while also coming into the game on a six-game winning streak. They recently defeated Southeast Missouri 60-48 at the Show Me Center in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. Four players scored in double-digits in the win, including a double-double from Micah Jones who scored 10 points and grabbed 10 rebounds. Tierny Austin led the team with 12 points, while Donshel Beck and Gwen Adams added 11 and 10, respectively. The team shot 40.0 from the floor while holding SEMO to 32.8-percent.
