Racers Place Third At Ocala Golf Event

The Murray State Racers improved their standing in each round of the Ocala Spring Invitational and came home with a share of third place in Dunnellon, Fla.

The Racers posted rounds of 301-298-303=902 and shared third place with Western Kentucky and South Alabama. Murray State was three shots off the pace set by winner South Dakota State with an 899. Daytona was runner-up at 900.

Jacklyn Van Meter carded her career-low round at MSU as the sophomore had a 1-under-par 71 in the final round to finish in sixth place with a 222 total.

Sophie Hillier had rounds of 72-75-77=224 and finished 13th, while Moa Folke placed 30th with scores of 75-78-76=229. Sydney Trimble placed 33rd with scores of 79-71-80=230, with Abbi Stamper placing 51st with scores of 79-76-79=234.

Minta Yin and Gina Nuzzo played the event as individuals for the Racers. Yin finished 17th with rounds of 74-76-80=230, while Nuzzo placed 78th with rounds of 85-82-77=244.

The rest of the top-10 of the 18-team field included: North Florida (903), Elon (906), Morehead State (908), Stetson (909) and Stetson (913).

The medalist of the event was Daytona's Tiffany Chan with scores of 72-72-67=211.

The course at Juliette Falls played to a par of 72 and 6,113 yards.
