The Murray State women's basketball team looks to get back to its winning ways in OVC play as the Racers travel to Richmond to face Eastern Kentucky Wednesday in a 6 p.m. contest. The Racers have lost five straight to EKU.
MSU is coming off a 69-58 loss to Tennessee State in Nashville on Saturday. Jashae Lee tied a career-high with 15 points in the game and also tallied a career-best four steals defensively. Lee's game-high in points marked the first time this season that a Racer other than Ke'Shunan James or LeAsia Wright led the Racers in scoring in a game.
The Colonels are led by Jalen O'Bannon who is fifth in the league in scoring at 15.6 points per game and leads the OVC in rebounding averaging 9.7 per contest. Shameekia Murray and Michaela Hunter are second and third on the team in scoring, averaging 14.7 and 12 points per game, respectively. Miranda Maples is one of the best shooters from 3-point range in the conference, having made 14 of her 28 attempts from beyond the arc.
EKU is third in the league in scoring as it averages 72.6 points per game as a team. The Colonels are 6-1 at home on the year and 2-0 in league play at Alumni Coliseum. Their only loss at home was a two-point defeat to Wright State. EKU is led by Head Coach Chrissy Roberts who is in her eighth season. Roberts is a member of EKU's Athletics Hall of Fame.
Rob Cross will once again be in search of win number 100 for his career Wednesday against the Colonels. Cross is the all-time winningest coach in program history and is 4-7 in his career against EKU.
