The Racer women look to snap their current five-game skid Wednesday as Murray State welcomes Eastern Illinois to the CFSB Center for a 6 p.m. contest. The Racers are coming off a 64-61 defeat at the hands of first-place SIU Edwardsville on Saturday.
Although they trailed most of the game, the Racers fought back from a 14-point second half deficit and had two solid looks at game-tying 3-pointers in the final stages of the contest against the Cougars. Ke'Shunan James led the way offensively for MSU in the loss with 19 points and five assists. Jashae Lee had a great all-around performance, tallying 12 points, seven rebounds, three blocks and two steals while Kyra Gulledge grabbed a game-high 12 boards in the loss.
The Panthers enter Wednesday's contest having lost 19 straight games after a season-opening victory over IUPUI in overtime. EIU is led offensively by Shakita Cox and Erica Brown who average 10.2 and 10 points per game, respectively. Brown also leads the team with seven rebounds per contest. Grace Lennox is fourth in the league in assists, averaging five helpers per game. The Panthers' 71 percent shooting from the free-throw line ranks second in the league. EIU is led by third-year head coach Debbie Black.
Head Coach Rob Cross is looking for career win 100 Wednesday night against the Panthers. Cross would become the first coach in program history to reach that mark, as he is already the all-time wins leader at MSU.
