First Half Woes Cost Racers at SEMO

The Murray State women were outscored 30-9 in the second quarter and Southeast Missouri opened the frame on a 16-0 run to open up a big margin on the Racers, as MSU fell 96-59 to SEMO Wednesday night at the Show Me Center.
The Racers (7-14, 3-7 OVC) were held to just 25 percent shooting from the floor in the first half, while the Redhawks (14-9, 7-3 OVC) shot nearly 49 percent and went a blistering 8-for-11 (72.7 percent) from 3-point range in the first two periods. MSU trailed 48-18 at the half.
For the game, the Racers shot 36.7 percent from the field, while SEMO shot 53 percent. MSU went 10-of-31 from beyond the arc while the Redhawks were an outstanding 12-for-19 from deep.
Jasmine Borders led the Racers offensively in the loss with a career-high 17 points as she went 4-for-7 from 3-point territory. Ke'Shunan James added 10 points and a team-high three assists. Kyra Gulledge added eight points and six rebounds, while Lexii Cassell and Abria Gulledge chipped in with seven points each.
Next up, MSU hosts Austin Peay Saturday at the CFSB Center. Tip-off is set for 5 p.m.
