Jabreuna Brimlett Wins 100 Meter Hurdles At WKU Relays

The Murray State Racers track & field team competed at the 2017 Hilltopper Relays hosted by Western Kentucky University. The two-day event took place at the Charles M. Reuter Track & Field Complex in Bowling Green.

The Racers had quite a few impressive performances, including a win for MSU's Jabreuna Brimlett in the 100 meter hurdles.

Sprints
MSU's Taylor McCammon placed eight in the 100 meter dash at 12.28, while Daijah White was 18th at 12.48.

In the 200 meter dash, Tamdra Lawrence placed fifth at 23.28, while Norma Abdur-Rafia was seventh at 24.49. Lawrence's time was her personal best and is the third fastest 200 meters at MSU.

Jabreuna Brimlett was the winner of the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 13.53. Brimlett's time matches the best in Murray State history by Sharda Bettis in 2013. Taylor McCammon was sixth at 14.29.

Middle Distance
It was a 12th place finish for Anna Curlin in the 400 meter dash with a time of 57.75, while D'Myia Thornton placed 14th at 58.28.

In the 800 meter run, Hilar McAdam was third with a time of 2:16.31, while Ali Hester placed eighth at 2:20.21. Mason Swenson was 12th at 2:23.27.

In the 1500 meter run, Hester placed fourth at 4:40, while Swenson was ninth at 4:43.

Jocelyn Payne finished third in the 400 meter hurdles. Her time was 1:01.96. Taylor Adcock placed 11th at 1:08.01.

MSU's Rebekah Priddy placed second in the 3000 meter steeplechase with a time of 11:22.13.

Aubrey Main placed ninth in the high jump at 5-feet 1-inch, while Jabreuna Brimlett and Hope Tewes placed 19th and 20th in the high jump as each jumped 4-feet 11 inches.

Jewel Wagner was fourth in the shot put at 42-feet, while Destiny Carey was fifth at 41-feet 7-inches and set her PR. Wagner was 17th in the hammer throw at 130-feet 10 inches, while Rachel Gootee had a throw of 122-feet 8-inches to place 18th.

Brimlett placed 11th in the javelin throw at 90-feet 6-inches, while Kristen Higgins was 12th at 88-feet 9-inches.

The Racers placed second in the 4x100 meter relay with a time of 45.98. The MSU team included Taylor McCammon, Norma Abdur-Rafia, Joecelyn Payne, Tamdra Lawrence. They were just off the record time at MSU of 45.63 set in 2012. MSU's team in the 4x400 relay placed fourth as D'Myia Thornton, Norma Abdur-Rafia, Hilary McAdam and Jocelyn Payne had a time of 3:47.
