Racers compete In Loaded Greater Lousiville Classic

The Murray State men's and women's cross country squads competed in the Greater Louisville Classic this Saturday at Tom Sawyer National Park in Louisville, Ky.
The race featured squads from 36 other schools, including top-ranked Northern Arizona and No. 7 Wisconsin.
The Racer men ran in the Gold race, an 8K that started at 9:30 a.m.
MSU's Mark Ventura had the best finish for the Racers with a time of 25:29.23, which was a personal record for the senior. Caleb Kawasaki also set a PR with his 26:32.14 finish. Overall, the men finished 28th with a total time of 2:11:19.85 and an average time of 26:15.97
"The men raced well today led by lifetime PR's from Mark and Caleb as well as season bests from Vince, Zach, and Tyler. The team has been working well together in practice and it was apparent in today's race. Meets like this will prepare us for the ultimate goal which is the OVC championships," said head coach Adam Kiesler
For the Racer women, they also ran in the Gold, a 5K that started at 10:15 a.m. Megan Smith led the way a time of 18:04.95. The next two highest finishing Racers were Rebekah Priddy, who finished with a time of 18:34.83 and Caroline Grogan, who finished 18:52.56. Overall, the women finished 34th with a total time of 1:33:36.59 and an average time of 18:43.32
"Together the women worked well together throughout the course, finishing strong with five season and personal bests," said Kielser
The Racers return to Louisville on Saturday, October 14 for the Pre National race.
