The Murray State track and field team wrapped up day two of competition at the Georgia Tech Invite, Saturday in Atlanta.
"Today was a good day to just go out and compete under not ideal conditions," said head coach Adam Kiesler. "I am happy with the energy level that we brought to the meet. A lot of athletes have some big marks coming right around the corner. That is what we have been working for since August so it will be fun to see everyone achieve their goals in the upcoming weeks."
Building off her fourth-place finish in yesterday's 100m, Tamdra Lawrence once again posted the top result for the Racers, Saturday, as she finished second in the 200m with a time of 24.28. In the same event, Anna Vollet set a personal best with a time of 25.57.
Hilary McAdam also gave the Racers a top-ten finish in the 800m as she finished eighth with a time of 2:13.98.
In the 400m, D'Myia Thornton was the top finisher for the Racers, placing 12th with a time of 57.48.
Both relay teams posted season bests as the 4x100 relay team of Daijah White, Antoinetta Avant, Rachel Hagans, and Lawrence finished fifth with a time of 46.80, good enough for the second-best time in the OVC this season.
The 4x400 relay team of JaKayla McSwain, Aubrey Main, McAdam, and Norma Abdur-Rafia finished third with a time of 3:51.63, also the second-best time in the OVC this season.
In the field events, Main finished fourth in the high jump with a height of 1.64m.
Destiny Carey placed sixth in the shot put with a distance of 13.27m while Jewel Wagner was 12th with a mark of 11.57m
Christina Meinhardt and Hannah Johnson finished ninth and 10th, respectively, in the discus with distances of 37.54m and 36.70m.
The Racers return to action next weekend when they will compete at both the Drake Relays and Memphis Invitational.
