
Ribeiro Finishes Third, Oren Fifth at Samford Multi

Murray State track and field athletes Jessikha Ribeiro and Ashlyn Oren competed in the heptathlon at the Samford Multi, Thursday, in Birmingham, Alabama.
Ribeiro finished third with 3,459 points while Oren was fifth with 3,302 points. The totals also puts Riberio at the top of the OVC leaderboard this season and puts Oren at number three.
In the first event, the 60m hurdles, Ribeiro finished fourth with a time of 9.27 and Oren finished ninth with a time of 9.47.
The high jump was the biggest bright spot of the day for the two Racers as they each jumped 1.65m to finish in a tie for first as Ribeiro jumped into first place overall after two events.
Ribeiro remained in first place after three events as she finished second in the shot put with a distance of 10.44m. Oren was 13th in the event with a mark of 8.83m.
The two finished fifth and sixth in the long jump as Oren jumped 5.31m while Riberio had a distance of 5.20m. They each solidified the top-five overall finish in the final event, the 800m, as Ribeiro ran 2:34.43 to finish seventh while Oren ran 2:38.07 to finish 11th.
The Racers are back in action this Saturday as they will travel to Eastern Illinois to compete in the John Craft Invite.
