
Racers Sit in First Place after Day One of Marshall Invitational

The Murray State track and field team opened the Marshall Invitational, Friday evening, and currently sit in first place with 34 points.
Only four events took place Friday evening, beginning with the weight throw. Jewel Wagner finished fourth overall with a distance of 17.13m. Destiny Carey was not too far behind in sixth place with a distance of 14.85m. Ashton Crowe also competed, finishing 11th with a mark of 13.59m.
In the pole vault, Brooke Misukonis finished third with a season-best height of 3.67m. Â Shannon Riley finished fifth with a mark of 3.37m while Jenna Pauly was sixth at 3.22m.
In the 5000m, Amanda Parker and Katelyn Gilbert finished sixth and seventh, respectively with times of 18:50.08 and 19:17.90.
The Racers distance medley relay team finished second with a time of 12:35.77, finishing ahead of OVC rival Morehead State.
The Marshall Invitational will continue tomorrow morning beginning at 9 a.m.
