MSU and SMU meet for the first time in 2023, the 99th season of collegiate basketball for MSU and the 108th for SMU.
The Racers are coming off a 80-66 defeat at Little Rock.
The Racers' 5-game losing skid has come with four close games against Illinois State (76-72), Austin Peay (53-49), Mississippi State (85-81) and Southeastern Louisiana (61-55).
Alden Applewhite made his Murray State debut in the Little Rock game with a stat line of: 28:40 minutes, 9 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists and 4 steals.
JaCobi Wood became the 48th member to the MSU 1000-Point Club in the game at Mississippi State (Dec. 13).
He also had his third MSU double-double in Starkville and his first this season on 18 points and 10 assists.
Now that Wood has joined the 1000-Point Club, the Racers have four players in the elite group.
