Ruiz Earns Top 25 Finish At Gans Creek Classic

Senior Jorge Ruiz earned his 16th-career top-25 finish, coming in 23rd out of 197 athletes that finished the race.

The Murray State men's cross country team competed at the Gans Creek Classic in Columbia, Missouri on Friday, finishing in 17th out of 20 competing teams.

Jorge Ruiz led the way for the Racers, finishing 23rd with a time of 24:43.7. He was just over 10 seconds away from the top 10 finishers. His finish marks the 16th time he has finished in the top 25 at a cross country event.

Vicente Correia finished 97th with a time of 26:15.0, making a 34-spot jump from his finish at the 2022 Gans Creek Classic.

Jarod Willis, Gabe Russell, and Nathan Quinn all finished within five seconds of each other. Willis came in 162nd with a time of 26:58.2, immediately followed by Russell who finished 164th with a time of 26:59.4.

Quinn rounded out the counting scores for MSU, finishing 167th with a time of 27:02.8.

The Racers will complete regular season competition at the Bradley Pink Classic in Peoria, Illinois on October 13th before the MVC Championships take place on October 27th in Nashville, Tennessee.
