Racers Sweep Doubleheader Day One at Valpo

Murray State softball clinches series at Valparaiso by sweeping doubleheader day one.

Murray State softball clinches final road series by sweeping doubleheader day one at Valparaiso, Saturday.
The Racers improved to 10-13 in Missouri Valley Conference play, while having earned their second MVC series win of the season.
Game One
The Racers and Beacons saw two scoreless innings before Murray State opened the scoring at the top of the third inning with an RBI single by Lily Fischer to center field. Taylor Jackson scored an RBI bunt single to double the lead in the third inning.
Erin Lackey scored the Racers' third run on a throwing error in the fourth inning, before Ailey Schyck score an RBI double to left field and Lacky scored an RBI triple to put the Racers up 5-0 in the fifth inning.
Murray State held the lead through the final two innings to take game one.
Jenna Veber took the win after posting three strikeouts to improve her record to 14-10. Raylee Roby earned her second save of her Racers career after posting three strikeouts through three innings pitched.
Game Two
Murray State took an early lead through an RBI single by Kayleigh White. Adison Hicks hit her second home run of the season to score three runs in the third inning.
The Beacons cut the lead with a two-run home run in the bottom of the third inning but the Racers extended the lead in the top of the fifth inning with an RBI single by Jackson followed by Taylor Franzen's scored run through a wild pitch and Lackey's sacrifice fly RBI to make it 7-2.
Lily Fischer closed the cap with home run in the top of the sixth inning as Bre Haislip kept the hosts quiet through the final stretch of the game to hold the 8-2 lead.
Jenna Veber took her second win of the day while making two strikeouts to reach post her 350th career strikeouts. Haislip posted four strikeouts for her second save of the season.
