MSU Student-Athletes Celebrate Another Great Semester In Classroom

The student-athletes of Murray State Athletics continued their academic success in the fall of 2024 by recording their 41st consecutive semester with an overall athletics department GPA above 3.0.

MSU Athletics had a GPA of 3.25 in the fall of 2024, which was a top-5 GPA in program history. This comes after MSU student-athletes set the record at 3.34 in the spring of 2024.

"We are thrilled to have continued our impressive academic streak of 41 consecutive semesters with a 3.0 GPA or higher," Director of Athletics Nico Yantko said. "We are so proud of each of our more than 430 student-athletes for the work they put in last semester in the classroom, and are grateful for the coaches and academic staff who continue to prioritize academic success as part of our shared vision for excellence."

In the fall of 2024, the Racers had 13 teams, of their 14, post a GPA above 3.0. MSU women's soccer led the way with a GPA of 3.79, a record for the program's 25-year history. MSU women's golf was second and set their program record with a GPA of 3.77.

Additionally, 12 Murray State teams had a GPA higher than their 41-semester average.

Here are some of the highlights from the fall semester for the Racers.

Fall 2024 Academic Success

81 (23%) earned MSU President's List honors with a perfect 4.0 GPA for the semester.
92 (26%) were MSU Dean's List honorees with a 3.5 GPA.
259 (72%) achieved a semester GPA of 3.0 or higher to qualify for the MSU Dean's List.
MSU student-athletes took 1,646 graded classes.
937 of those classes (57%) resulted in a letter grade of A.
1,328 (81%) of those classes resulted in a letter grade B or higher.
