Racers Run Past Northern State in Exhibition

With two exhibition games behind them, the Racers jump into the first regular season of the Coach Ryan Miller era
The Murray State Racers rode a 50-point first half and a 60-point second half to a 112-74 exhibition win Sunday over the Northern State Wolves at the CFSB Center in Murray, Kentucky.
The Racers open their 101st season of collegiate basketball (Nov. 3) at the Field of 68 Opening Day Marathon against Omaha in Sioux Falls, South Dakota for first year head coach Ryan Miller.
Javon Jackson had the hot hand for the Racers with a game-high 22 points, while Roman Domon added 19. MSU also got 14 points from Brayden Shorter and 11 from Mason Miller.
Leading 52-34 at the intermission, the Racers ran out to a 26-point lead on seven-straight points from Doman to make it 74-48 Racers with 12:12 left.
The Racers eventually led by as many as 41 and hit the century mark with 3:17 remaining on a 3-pointer by Shorter.

- The Racers hit 61 percent from the field in the first half (22-of-36) and were 6-of-11 from 3-point range for 54 percent.
- For the game, the Racers shot 59 percent (44-of-75), 47 percent from the 3-point line (14-of-30) and 67 percent from the free throw line (10-of-15).
- MSU won the rebound battle 56-21.
- Today's Racer Mania presented by The Murray Bank, was built around the exhibition game. The annual "meet the team day' allowed the men's and women's teams at Murray State to meet fans, take photos, sign schedule posters and each player was introduced during the festivities.
- The 2025-26 season is the 101st in Murray State history, the 27th in the CFSB Center and MSU's fourth in the Missouri Valley Conference.
- Among teams that have played in NCAA DI for at least 25 seasons, MSU is ranked No. 14 in winning percentage at .643 and No. 44 in victories with 1,752.
- MSU has made 18 NCAA Tournament appearances and has won five games, the last in 2022 against San Francisco.
- The Racers were picked No. 4 in the Field of 68 MVC Preseason Poll.
