Racers Begin Valley Season with a Trip to Evansville

Murray State women's basketball begins its MVC title defense tonight at Evansville
Murray State women's basketball looks to extend its seven-game winning streak Monday night as it opens Missouri Valley Conference play against the University of Evansville at Meeks Family Fieldhouse.
The Racers (9-2) enter the matchup with momentum following a dominant 101-44 victory over Lindsey Wilson on Dec. 20. Murray State boasts one of the most explosive offenses in the conference, led by forward Sharnecce Currie-Jelks, who averages a league-best 20.3 points per game. The Racers lead the MVC in team scoring at 82.3 points per contest.
Evansville (2-10, 0-1 MVC) returns home to open its conference home slate while looking to snap a five-game skid. The Purple Aces are led by sophomore guard Camryn Runner, who averages 16.2 points and ranks among the national leaders in free throws made. Sophomore Elle Snyder has also emerged as a force in the paint, leading the team with 6.2 rebounds per game.
Murray State holds a 28-15 lead in the all-time series and has won the last six meetings against the Purple Aces. Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m. CST, with the game streaming live on ESPN+.
