Murray State women's basketball defeated Belmont 83-78 on Sunday afternoon

Murray State women's basketball defeated Belmont 83-78 on Sunday afternoon at the CFSB Center in Murray, Kentucky. The win is the Racers first over Belmont since January 11, 2023 and ties MSU with Drake for second place in the Missouri Valley Conference.

Sophomore guard Haven Ford shined for the Racers, edging a triple-double with 24 points, seven assists, and six rebounds. Katelyn Young once again put together a 20 point performance while Ava Learn picked up her 10th double-double of the season with 18 points and 16 rebounds. Halli Poock poured in 16 points of her own, making four three pointers in the contest.

After trailing at halftime, Murray State outscored the Bruins 26-16 in the fourth quarter to pull out the victory. The Racers knocked down 11 three point attempts and narrowly won the rebounding battle 38-37 while also dishing out 16 assists. The win gives MSU 12 wins in the MVC this season, tying their best mark that was set a season ago.

The Racers now turn their attention to league leaders Missouri State for a matchup on Thursday night.
