Bardstown, Kentucky native comes to MSU with playing experience at Louisville and Depaul
Murray State head men's basketball coach Ryan Miller announced the signing of 6-9 forward JJ Traynor who joins the Racers for the 2025-26 season.
Traynor comes to the Racers after playing the 2024-25 season at BIG EAST side Depaul. While with the Blue Demons, he played in 32 games, including 10 starts. Traynor averaged 5.6 points and 3.3 rebounds and scored a career high 21 points against Providence.
Prior to his time at Depaul, Traynor spent four seasons at Louisville where he appeared in 70 games and averaged 5.7 points and three rebounds while shooting nearly 50 percent from the field in his career with the Cardinals.
"We're very excited to add a player like JJ to our team," Miller said. " He brings a tremendous amount of experience and athleticism to the roster and adds significant length."
A native of Bardstown, Kentucky, Traynor prepped at Bardstown High School where averaged 20.2 points, 11.2 rebounds, and 3.6 blocks as a senior in 2019-20. Ranked as a consensus top 100 player nationally, he was named KHSAA First Team All-State and 5th Region Player of the Year as a senior.
