Von Arx Paces Racers In Opening Day of MVC Championship

Tina Von Arx led the Murray State Racers with a spot in 12^th place after the first round of the Missouri Valley Conference Women's Golf Championship at Annbriar Golf Club in Waterloo, Illinois.

Von Arx, a freshman from Solothurn, Switzerland, carded a 3-over-par 75 for a spot in 12^th place Sunday afternoon. She made the turn with an even-par 36 and was in the top-10 late in the round, but fell a couple of spots after playing the final five holes four strokes over par.

The Racers had a spot in eighth place in the field of 12 with a team score of 313 and were one shot behind Northern Iowa (313) and three from Missouri State (310). Defending champion Illinois State had the lead (290), in front of Evansville (298), Drake and Southern Illinois (301) and Bradley (302).

Drake's Erika Holmberg was the individual leader with a 2-under-par 70.
