Kane Elmy, Carson Garner, Jonathan Hogart and Dustin Mercer where great on the field and in the classroom
Murray State Baseball placed four student-athletes on the 2025 Missouri Valley Conference All-Scholar Athlete Team as announced by the league office in St. Louis.
Â
Carson Garner and Jonathan Hogart were named to the First Team and Kane Elmy and Dustin Mercer received Second Team honors.
Â
On the baseball diamond, the MSU foursome were big parts of the Racers' 39-13 season that saw the team win both the MVC regular season and MVC Tournament championships and advance to the NCAA Oxford Regional this weekend.
Â
Hogart, Garner and Mercer earned All-MVC honors at the end of the regular season and Elmy was a mainstay on the pitching staff and was the winning pitcher in the Racers' victory over UIC in their march to the championship.
Â
To meet the criteria, student-athletes must be at least a sophomore academically and athletically. An undergraduate student-athlete must have at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale). A graduate student-athlete must have at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) as both an undergraduate and a grad student unless they are in their first semester as a graduate student and don't have an established graduate GPA. Eligible nominees must be in the lineup for 70 percent of an institution's team scoring events or in the lineup at the conference championship.
