Murray State falls to Drake to end their season at MVC Championship

The Murray State Racers closed the book on their 2025 season with a loss to the Drake Bulldogs at the Missouri Valley Conference Softball Championship on Wednesday in Des Moines, Iowa.

The Racers finish their season with a 21-28 overall record and an 11-16 record in MVC play after the 8-5 loss at the hands of the Bulldogs.

Drake came out strong early, putting up five runs in the first inning. They continued to pour it on in the fourth with three more runs to take a commanding 8-0 lead.

Kayleigh White gave the Racers life in the top of the fifth inning with a solo shot to center field. Bailey Broemmer added one more in the seventh with an RBI triple that scored Ailey Schyck.

Bre Haislip (6-13) was the losing pitcher after giving up two hits and three earned runs in the first inning. Raylee Roby and Karlye Graber each pitched three innings in relief. Broemmer and White were responsible for the Racers' only hits and RBI of the game.

Paige Bedsworth (11-2) got the win in the circle, pitching five innings and allowing two hits and an earned run.

The Racers say goodbye to senior outfielder Erin Lackey. The Clarksville, Tenn. native played four seasons at Murray State and finishes her career 20th in program history in career hits with 111.
