The Racers compete for the first time in the Cayman Islands Classic, Nov. 23-25
The Murray State men's basketball team plays the Cayman Islands Classic for the first time when they take on Middle Tennessee, McNeese and George Washington during Thanksgiving Week in George Town, Grand Cayman (Nov. 23-25).
At John Gray Gymnasium, the Racers take on MTSU (Nov. 23), McNeese (Nov. 24) and George Washington (Nov. 25). All three games have the same 7:30 p.m. Eastern Time tip-off.
"We always strive to challenge our team with a non-conference schedule that presents outstanding opponents and that's what we have in our visit to the Cayman Islands Classic," said Murray State Head Coach Ryan Miller. "Apart from the competition, this event also gives our team the opportunity to continue our process of building an outstanding team that trusts and depends on each other. Thanks to Weave Sports for making this event possible."
The Racers know Middle Tennessee very well having met 147 times, most in the Ohio Valley Conference from 1953 to 2000. Outside of being conference foes, the Racers and Blue Raiders have met 15 times since 2000 with Murray State winning nine.
MSU is 1-2 all-time meetings with McNeese, with the first under Coach Cal Luther in 1974 and a pair of meetings in 1982 and 1983 under Coach Ron Greene.
When MSU meets GWU on the final day in the Caymans, it will be their first meeting in program history.
