Schwepker Announces Pair of International Signees

The Racers add setter Elita Foti and middle blocker Burcu Gulomur.
Head Coach David Schwepker of Murray State Volleyball announced a pair of international signings for the 2025 Team on Wednesday morning.Â
The Racers add Elita Foti and Burcu Gulomur to their roster ahead of the 2025 season.
A native of Cyprus, Foti competed for the Cypriot junior national team and Apollon Limassol, winning a U16 and 2022 women's championship and making a pair of world championship appearances prior to joining the Racers. Â
"Elita is a high-level setter with a lot of experience that I think will make a great addition to our already great setters in our program," said Schwepker. "She plays at the highest level of volleyball that Cyprus has to offer and has been a setter for the Cyprus Junior National Team. She is a great team player, and we are looking forward to how she will adjust when she gets here. She is also a great student and will add to the success of our already outstandingly 'smart' volleyball team!
Hailing from Turkey, Burcu Gulomur boasts a long list of academic and athletic achievements before joining the Racers. In addition to her eight academic certificates of merit, she competed in the women's volleyball 2nd league, the U18 super league, and the U16 super league. She also won a championship with her school in Izmir. Â
"Burcu had originally signed with us last year, but in the end, was not able to get here for the 2024 season," said Schwepker. "She is back and will be a new middle blocker for our program starting this fall. I really respect her perseverance and diligence as a person and athlete. She brings in a lot of experience as a player and has the ability to contribute to our program as a freshman. Academically, she is outstanding and we expect her to continue with her academic excellence as she plays for Murray State."
