The Racers go for a split in their season series with the Bruins
The Murray State Racers get back home to the CFSB Center for a Sunday 5 p.m. tip off against the Belmont Bruins in Murray, Kentucky.
The Racers will be trying for a split in the season series with the Bruins after falling 103-86 (Jan. 31).
Thursday night, the Racers scored their fifth road game this season in the Missouri Valley Conference 74-72 over the Indiana State Sycamores in Terre Haute.
In building up a 22 point halftime lead, the Racers are outscored by 20 points in the second half but held on behind a pair of 20-point scoring games from Javon Jackson and Roman Domon of 22 and 20 points to go with a 13-point, 5-block effort for Murray State big man, Fred King, who played a season high 34 minutes.
MSU's French freshman, Domon, is leading all freshman scorers in the MVC at 14.9 points per game in league contests.Â
Domon enters the Belmont game with 375 points, comparing favorably against the performances of other freshman seasons of Racer greats including Ja Morant, Cameron Payne, Isaiah Cannan and Isaac Spencer.
After the Belmont game, the Racers will have three MVC games remaining: at Illinois State, home against Evansville and the regular season finale in Peoria against the Bradley Braves.
With another win, MSU coach Ryan Miller becomes the fifth rookie coach with the Racers to win 20 games.
