Jorge Earns MVC Newcomer of the Week Honors Following Debut Series

MURRAY, Ky. — After an offensive explosion in his first appearance for the Racers, Murray State baseball outfielder Kainen Jorge has been named the Missouri Valley Conference Newcomer of the Week, the league announced Monday.
Jorge, a senior transfer from Old Dominion, was instrumental in guiding the Racers to a season-opening series victory over the Ohio Bobcats. The Miami, Florida native wasted no time making his presence felt, posting a blistering .462 batting average (6-for-13) across the three-game set, while slugging .923 and tallying 12 total bases.
Jorge's standout moment came during the series finale on Sunday. In a high-scoring shootout, he put together a 3-for-5 performance that left him just a single shy of hitting for the cycle.
Jorge and the Racers look to keep the momentum rolling as they travel to Florence, Alabama, tomorrow, Feb. 18, for a midweek clash against North Alabama. First pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m.
