Thomas joins the staff for the 2026 season as the offensive line coach
Â
"I'm very happy to be here under Coach Jody Wright's leadership," said Thomas. It is always a tough decision to leave your alma mater, but I certainly believe in the direction this program is headed. The staff is doing a great job and I'm glad to be a part of what we are doing here, working with our offensive line group. Big things are coming to Murray State football!"Â
"We are excited to Welcome Ben Thomas, his wife Allie, and daughter Rosemary to Murray, Kentucky," said Head Coach Jody Wright. "Ben brings 10 years of D1 College coaching experience from Tulane, Southern Miss, and North Alabama. He has been able to work along some of the top offensive minds in college football and he has an outstanding reputation as a teacher, motivator, developer, and recruiter at the division I level."
Thomas comes to the Racers after spending the 2025 season at his alma mater, North Alabama. From 2021-24, he coached at Southern Mississippi working in multiple roles across the offense. Additionally, the Florence, Alabama native had a stint at Tulane after serving as a graduate assistant at UNA. Thomas began his coaching career at Mars Hill Bible School in the 2016 season.
A three-time letterwinner with the Lions, Thomas helped UNA secure three Gulf-South Conference titles as a player from 2013-15.Â
