Racers Split Senior Day Matchups against Sycamores

Roby Collects Seven Strikeouts in Compete Game
The Murray State Racers (19-20, 10-8 MVC) split a pair of games against the Indiana State Sycamores (20-23, 8-11 MVC) on Senior Day at Racer Field on Friday.
Game 1: Indiana State 2, Murray State 1
The first game of the afternoon was a pitchers' duel, with Bre Haislip of Murray State and Lauren Sackett of Indiana State pitching complete games.
Neither team was able to get on the board through the first and second innings before the Sycamores took a 2-0 lead in the third with a homer to right field.
The deadlock continued after the home run until the sixth inning. Bailey Broemmer reached after being hit by a pitch and advanced on a single by Ava Ozment before Katy Huels drove in the first run of the day to score Broemmer and make it 2-1.
Allie Waldron singled and advanced to second for the Racers in the bottom of the seventh, but they did not capitalize, sealing the 2-1 win for Indiana State.
The Sycamores finished the game with two runs on four hits, no errors, and five runners left on base. The Racers scored one run on seven hits, did not commit an error, and left 10 runners on base.
Bre Haislip (9-7) took the loss in the circle after allowing two earned runs on four hits and striking out five batters in a seven-inning complete game.
Katy Huels had the Racers' only RBI and went 3-for-3 in the game. Adison Hicks went 1-for-2, was hit twice, and got one stolen base. Allie Waldron, Parker Holcombe, and Ava Ozment had one hit each.
Game 2: Murray State 5, Indiana State 1
The scoring got started early in the second game, with Indiana State scoring a run in the top of the first and Murray State responding with two of their own.
The Sycamores opened the game with an inside-the-park home run by their leadoff hitter, scoring what would be their only run of the game. The Racers responded in the bottom of the inning with Kynadee Warner scoring on a single by Kenley Minor, and Parker Holcombe scoring on a bunt single by Allie Waldron.
With the Racers leading 2-1 in the third, Adison Hicks increased the lead for Murray State by scoring on an error to make it 3-1.
The Racers increased their lead again in the sixth as Kenley Minor scored on another error, and Katy Huels hit an RBI single to score Allie Waldron and make it 5-1.
Raylee Roby (4-2) went the distance in the circle and earned the win, allowing one run on five hits and racking up seven strikeouts.
The Racers finished the game with five runs on seven hits, no errors, and five runners left on base. The Sycamores scored one run on five hits, committed five errors, and left six runners on base.
Allie Waldron went 2-for-3 at the plate with an RBI, and Katy Huels and Kenley Minor each went 1-for-3 with an RBI. Adison Hicks, Parker Holcombe, and Ava Ozment each had one hit.
