Schutte Awarded MVC Pitcher of the Week

MURRAY, Ky. – Murray State right-hander Nic Schutte has been named the Missouri Valley Conference Pitcher of the Week following a career-best performance in the Racers' series opening win over Illinois State.
The senior set a new single-game career high with 11 strikeouts, a mark that also propelled him past the 150-strikeout milestone for his career. Across 7.1 innings of work, Schutte was dominant, surrendering just one walk and five hits, all of which were singles.
His efficiency on the mound helped set the stage for a historic weekend at Johnny Reagan Field, where the Racers eventually secured their third conference sweep of the season.
The Racers will look to carry that energy into Tuesday as they travel to Oxford, Miss., to face Ole Miss at 6:30 p.m. The midweek matchup marks Murray State's first return to Oxford since the program won the 2025 Oxford Regional.
