- Competing in the glorious decade of the 1990’s and into the 2000’s, Spencer stands as one of the top multi-tool talents that have ever played at Murray State.
- Playing for Coach Mark Gottfried and Coach Tevester Anderson from 1997-01, Spencer was one of the kingpins that produced a record of 96-31 (.732), a mark of 57-13 (.814) in OVC games and a home record of 49-5 (.907) as he helped close out Racer Arena and open the CFSB Center.
- Helped the Racers to three OVC regular season titles and two trips to the NCAA Tournament.
- Â The most famous win streak of the arena came when the building was opened. Now 20-years ago, MSU's school-record 47-game home win streak was an amazing time for the program. The streak spanned the closing of Racer Arena (30 wins) and the opening of the CFSB Center (17 wins). This run began (Nov. 23, 1996) with an 84-45 win over Belmont and it ended with an 84-78 loss to Southeast Missouri (Jan. 15, 2000). 1,149 days passed from the time the streak started to the day it ended, or three years, one month and 24 days. MSU's streak was the longest in the nation when it ended.
- Â One of only three MSU players to be named All-OVC four times (1998-01). Joins Isaiah Canaan (2010-13) and Lamont Sleets (1980-84).
-  Crazy to think that Spencer never won the OVC Player of the Year award. As a freshman, his teammate, DT Mayes (Inducted MSU HOF 2018) won the award and in 1999, the honor went to SEMO’s Bud Eley. In 2000, his teammate Aubrey Reese was honored and in 2001, Austin Peay’s Trenton Hassell took the honor.
- Â As of 2023, ranks second at MSU in scoring (2,248 points), second in made field goals (823), fourth in made free throws (525), fifth in rebounds (962), 13th in assists (352) (was 7th when his career ended). At that time, was the only Racer to end his career in the top-10 in scoring, rebounding and assists in MSU history. A feat that is not accomplished as of 2023.
- Â Made it to 1000-career points in 67 games, for 18th fastest at MSU as of 2023.
- Â Had a career-high 42 points against Tennessee State (02-27-2001) at CFSB Center. A game the Racers won 114-110, which is the second combined total points for a game in arena history as of 2023. It is still the highest point total for a MSU player in the CFSB Center as of 2023.
- Spencer’s 42-point game is the third all-time best game for a Racer, tied with DT Mayes’ 42 vs Arkansas (12-25-1997).
