
MSU Scores Second Half Shut Out In 48-13 Win Over Lambuth

The victory was the Racers first in 2007 after two road losses.
Lambuth had tied it when the Racers scored again on a short touchdown run by Josh Jones to put the Racers in front 12-6.
The Eagles held the lead at the half 13-12.
The second half belonged to the Racers who ran off five straight touchdowns that accounted for most of the 262 total yards they gained in the half.
Rod Harper caught a 21 yard TD pass from Ehrhardt, and then the MSU quarterback hit DeAngelo Nelson on a five yard scoring pass to give the Racers a 27-13 lead at the end of the third quarter.
Ben Rush and Harper caught touchdown passes from Ehrhardt in the fourth quarter and Paul McKinnis added a touchdown run to end the scoring.
On defense, the Racers who entered the third game of the season without an interception, managed to pick off five Lambuth passes Saturday night. The five interceptions came from five different players: Derrick Parrott, Zach Kutch, Taylor Lanigan, Wade Peters and Marvin Robinson.
Ehrhardt, who left the game briefly after he took a hard hit, ended the game with 150 yards passing on 13 of 26 passes, four went for touchdowns. Chris Franklin spelled Ehrhardt for one series and completed 5 of 5 passes for 45 yards.
Harper led the MSU receiving group with nine catches for 127 yards and two touchdowns. Nelson caught three passes for 27 yards and two scores, while Charlie Jordan caught three passes for 31 yards.
The Racers ground attack was led by Josh Jones who rushed for 87 yards on 12 carries, McKinnis carried the ball 15 times for 84 yards and
Tamar Butler led the Racer defense with 11 tackles including two sacks and three tackles for losses.
The Racers now prepare for a Thursday night game at Tennessee Tech and their Ohio Valley Conference opener at Tucker Stadium at 7 p.m.
The home team has won this rivalry game in five of the last six meetings. MSU's last win at TTU came in 1999.
GAME NOTES
Jeff Eharhardt is the first Racer quarterback to throw for four touchdowns since Justin Fuente did it in 1999 against Kentucky Wesleyan.
The Racers 48 points were their most in the last 36 games since scoring 56 to open the season in 2004 against
Derrick Parrott's interception in the first quarter was the first Racer pick of the season. It was his fifth career interception.
The Racers had five interceptions by five different players. Parrott and Zach Kutch intercepted Lambuth passes in the first quarter. Taylor Lanigan's pick in the third quarter was the third of his career, and Wade Peters and Marvin Robinson each had their first career interceptions in the fourth quarter. MSU's five interceptions were two off the team mark of seven that came in 1969 against Austin Peay. The OVC record is also seven shared by five teams.
