Racers Host Eastern Illinois for Homecoming

GAME NOTES
Murray State (3-3, 1-2 OVC) vs. Eastern Illinois (1-5, 0-4 OVC)

STORY LINES
Saturday's game marks the 78th Homecoming game at Murray State. The Racers enter the contest against Eastern Illinois with an all-time record of 47-30-1 on Homecoming. The game marks the fifth time the Panthers will serve as the opponent on Homecoming. The Racers are just 1-3 in the previous four games.
Junior quarterback Casey Brockman will put double duty on Saturday as he will also be on the Homecoming Court. Brockman is just the second football player to be nominated for Homecoming King. The only other player to be nominated was none other than Casey's older brother, Tyler, who was named king in 2009.
Senior kicker Kienan Cullen kicked his 49th career field goal against Jacksonville State. With his next field goal, Cullen will become the school's all-time leader in career field goals made, breaking the tie with Paul Hickert. Cullen is also just 10 points shy of breaking Hickert's all-time scoring record of 263 points.
The Racer football program picked up its 450th victory in the 48-24 victory over Georgia State. MSU now has an all-time record of 450-388-6.
The Game
The Racers return to the friendly confines of 'The Track' as they welcome Eastern Illinois for Homecoming. Kickoff is set for 3 p.m. and can be seen live on the Racer TV Network and ESPN3.
vs. Eastern Illinois
The Racers are 12-14 against the Panthers and are coming off their first victory over EIU in eight years. MSU is 8-5 in games played in Murray.
Win No. 450
The Racers picke up the program's 450th victory against Georgia State. MSU is now 450-388-6.
Homecoming Court
The Homecoming Court will have a unique look this season as one of the candidates for king will not be dressed in a suit. Instead, junior quarterback Casey Brockman will be wearing a helmet and shoulder pads. Brockman becomes the second football player to be nominated for Homecoming King, joining his brother, Tyler, who was crowned in 2009.
Homecoming 2010
To say that the Homecoming game in 2010 was exciting would be an understatement. The Racers overcame and early 21-3 deficit to set the modern-day scoring record in a 72-59 victory over Missouri State. MSU also became the first school in FCS history with a 500-yard passer, 200-yard rusher and 200-yard receiver in the same game.
5,000-Yard Club
Junior quarterback Casey Brockman is set to join an exclusive group against Eastern Illinois as he needs only 47 passing yards to become just the fifth quarterback in MSU history to eclipse the 5,000-yard mark.

Lavea Puts Up Numbers in 1st Start
Tyler Lavea made the most of his first career start as he rushed for 85 yards on 12 carries. He helped the seal the game late in the fourth quarter as he broke free on a 37-yard run to set up the final touchdown of the game.
Johnson Returns to Old Ways
Punt returner Dontrell Johnson returned to his All-America ways against Georgia State as he averaged 25.3 yards on three punt returns.Despite still not being at 100%, Johnson ranks third nationally by averaging 22 yards per return.
3rd-Down Conversions
The Racers were extremely effecient on third down against Georgia State as they converted 11 of 16 third downs. On the drive where MSU took the lead for good, the Racers converted on 3rd-and-12, 3rd-and-11 and 3rd-and 18. The Racers lead the FCS with 50 third-down conversions.
All-Around Brady
Duane Brady proved his versatility against Georgia State as he rushed for 65 yards and a touchdown, while also catching seven passes for 91 yards and a touchdown. His two touchdowns came in the final three minutes of the first half to send MSU to the locker room with a 28-10 advantage.
Beauford Finds Endzone
Wide receiver Hannibal Beauford finally reached the endzone for the first time when he caught a seven-yard touchdown pass in the fourth quarter against Georgia State.
Cullen Ties FG Record
Kicker Kienan Cullen has been consistent throughout his four-year career at Murray State. With his 44-yard field goal against Jacksonville State, Cullen tied Paul Hickert for the all-time record for field goals in a career. Cullen also trails Hickert by just 10 points in becoming the all-time leading score at MSU.
