Sullivan No-Hitter Highlights Final Day Of War Eagle Classic

Racers split Sunday games against Belmont and Georgia Southern
Murray State junior Chelsey Sullivan tossed the first no-hitter in program history in an 8-0, five inning victory Sunday morning against Belmont before the Racers dropped a 4-2 contest in the team's final game against Georgia Southern at the War Eagle Classic in Auburn, Ala.
Sullivan picked up her second win of the season in the five inning outing, allowing three walks while striking out three in her most dominant outing of the season
The Racers scored all of their runs in the opener in the middle innings, starting with a solo home run from Lauren Buch to lead off the second inning. MSU added three more in the third, scoring on a sacrifice fly from Ellyn Troup, a fielding error on Belmont pitcher Ashley Byers and an RBI single to right from Madysen Wilton.
MSU put the game out of reach in the fourth, scoring four runs off of three hits. Megan Glosser scored from second on a single to center from Meghan Sims. After Troup walked two batters later, Buch blasted her second home run of the game, a three run shot with two outs, to put the Racers ahead 8-0.
Sullivan worked out of trouble in the bottom half of the inning, getting a ground out and strike out for the final two outs of the inning after a pair of Bruins reached on a fielding error at short and a walk.
Buch was the only Racer with multiple hits, runs and RBI against Belmont as six player crossed home plate.
The MSU offense continued its success in the first inning against Georgia Southern, scoring a pair as five Racers reached base. Stephanie Mattocks scored Glosser from third on a bases-loaded groundout to first. Buch walked two batters later to load the bases with two outs and was followed by a walk from Leslie Bridges to score the second run of the inning.
Murray State (2-4) was unable to score over the final six innings, recording just two hits as Georgia Southern came back with single runs in the second and third innings and a pair in the top of the fifth to take a 4-2 lead.
Sullivan came back to throw all seven innings against the Eagles, allowing four runs, three earned, on eight hits and five walks. She struck out a season-high six.
The Racers return to action Friday, Mar. 5 against Cal State Northridge and Oregon State at the DeMarini Invitational hosted by Cal State Fullerton in Fullerton, Cal.
