Softball Hosts Alabama State Wednesday Afternoon

GAME NOTES
Murray State softball returns home to open a 13-game homestand with a mid-week doubleheader against Alabama State.
The Hornets sit at 8-28 over all and are 4-10 in the SWAC. They have dropped nine in a row with their last win coming against Savannah State. Brehanna Rodrigues leads ASU with a .400 average and 38 hits on the season. Megan Dixon and Ayesha Famble lead the team with six home runs each and pace the Hornets with 24 and 22 RBI, respectively. Stephanie Hernandez leads the rotation, making 30 of Alabama State's starts in the circle and collecting seven of eight wins this season.
Murray State dropped two of three games at Southeast Missouri, rebounding to pick up a 9-7 win in the final game of the series after dropping a pair of 10-9 and 11-4 losses a day earlier. Kristen Broadway picked up her first win of the season after tossing 6.1 innings in relief Sunday. She held the Redhawks to a pair of runs on five hits and a walk while striking out a career-high nine batters. Lauren Buch and Ellyn Troup each homered for MSU. The Racers got runs from eight different placers as Buch was the lone MSU player to crossthe plate twice.
The Racers return to Ohio Valley Conference action this weekend, hosting Eastern Kentucky April 22-23.
