Van Meter Places Fourth In Hattiesburg

The Murray State women's golf team managed only 18 holes over two days at the Lady Eagle Invitational in Hattiesburg, Miss.

Heavy rain forced the event to take the round one scores from Monday and call it a final after Mother Nature made sure there was no golf on Tuesday.
Â
The Racers saw sophomore Jacklyn Van Meter led the way with a 73 and a spot in fourth place in the field of 78 players.
Â
MSU's Moa Folke fired a 79 and had a spot in 37th place, while Sydney Trimble and Sophie Hillier shared 48th place after each carded an 81. Abbi Stamper finished 57th place after an 81.

As a team, MSU placed eighth place in the field of 14 teams at Hattiesburg Country Club after they carded a 314. MSU was three shots behind Alabama State and one shot up on host Southern Mississippi.

MSU has two players in the field as individuals. Minta Yin fired an 83 and finished 62nd, while Gina Nuzzi was in 65th place with an 84.

Western Kentucky was the winner, with South Alabama (301), Houston Baptist (304), Stephen F. Austin (304) and Memphis (308) making up top-5.

The Racers get back on the course at the Bobby Nichols Invitational (March 16-17) at Sevierville Country Club in Sevierville, Tennessee.
