Racers Face Tennessee State in Nashville Saturday

The Murray State women's basketball team closes its two-game Nashville road trip Saturday as the Racers face Tennessee State at 5:30 p.m. at the Gentry Center. MSU is looking to snap its two-game losing streak on the season and three-game losing streak against TSU.
MSU is coming off an 87-61 loss to Belmont on Thursday night at the Curb Event Center. The Bruins shot 52.3 percent in the game while the Racers shot just 31.9 percent. LeAsia Wright led the Racers offensively with 13 points while Bria Bethea added nine.
Murray State Head Coach Rob Cross is in search of his 100th career win Saturday. Cross would become the first coach in program history to reach the mark. He became the winningest coach in MSU history in December of last season.
The Tigers are led by the duo of Jayda Johnson and I'mani Davis who are first and second on the team, respectively averaging 14.2 and 13.5 points per game. Brianna Lawrence is the other Tiger in double figures as she averages 10 points per contest. Johnson and Davis also lead the team in rebounding, averaging seven and 6.8 boards per contest, respectively. Michelle Cox leads TSU with 62 assists on the season. Tennessee State is a perfect 6-0 at home this season, including 2-0 in the OVC.
The Tigers are currently on a three-game winning streak, after losing five consecutive prior to that. In conference play, the Tigers are second in team defense, allowing just 61.8 points per contest. Larry Joe Inman is the head coach of the Tigers and is in his fourth year. TSU is the defending OVC Tournament Champions.
