MSU Falters in Series Finale

For the third game in the series, the Racers (23-26, 11-13) jumped out to an early lead. An Adam Bauer double down the left field line put MSU up 1-0 after one inning and a Kipp Moore solo home run and an RBI single from Aaron Bence put the Racers up 3-0 after two innings. Moore's homer was his third of the season and second of the series.
The Racers' offense was held in check for the most part the rest of the contest as they were held to just three hits in the final seven innings. The Bruins (28-20, 14-10 OVC) were able to take the lead in the sixth inning with a pair of runs to go up 4-3 and followed that up with four runs in the seventh and two each in the eighth and ninth.
Bence led the Racers with a 2-for-3 performance at the plate while Jack Hranec went 1-for-2 with a run scored and two walks in the loss and Ramsey Scott was 1-of-3.
Brad Boegel took the loss in the start for MSU as he pitched 5.2 innings and allowed four runs on six hits while striking out seven batters. Sheldon Baxter, Chad Gendron, John Lollar and Cody Maerz all came on in relief in the contest.
MSU returns to action Friday as it travels to Eastern Kentucky for a huge three-game series with the Colonels.
