Racers Produce Breakout Performances At APSU Event

Results

A warm and muggy morning greeted the Murray State cross country teams when they competed in the third annual APSU Cross Country Invitational, Saturday, at the Hilldale Baptist Church Family Life Center in Clarksville, Tennessee.

Emily Flaherty led the Racer women with a spot in 12^th place in a field of 77 runners with a time of 19:51 in the 5K distance, while the men's team was led by Vince Turner's 21^st place finish with a time of 23:08 in the four-mile race that had a field of 89 runners.

"I'm really happy with the way the team worked together this weekend," said Murray State coach Jenny Swieton. "The goal was to work together though out the race and practice encouraging one another. It was very exciting to see some season best made possible by team work."

The Racer women placed fourth in the event, while the men's team placed fifth.

As the Racers ran together as a team, the times were tightly bunched as were places in the field.

The Racers hit the road again next weekend when they compete at the Notre Dame Invitational in South Bend, Indiana.
